Eating in the Big Apple

Between vacation time and Christmas, it’s been too long since I’ve visited this blog.  But we’re back to reality and routine once again.

Our trip to NYC was great… full of Christmas spirit and good things to eat.  There are many terrific restaurants to choose from and every meal was a delight.  One of my favourite excursions was our trip to Eataly which is on 5th Ave between 23rd and 24th St.  It is the brain-child of several well-known Italian chefs.  Housed under one roof, you can find food products from every region in Italy artfully arranged with mini restaurants in each section that feature the products from this region. There is everything from meats and seafood to breads, pastas and condiments of all kinds.  There are wines and beers, cookbooks and equipment.  I could have spent hours browsing but our lunch in the pasta section was a welcome respite.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have something like this in Toronto?  Do we have any chefs looking for a new venture?
